Been wanting this for a while now. Another thing would be to change the gender of your character. Now that shouldn't be so hard, seeing as how they did it for April Fools last year

Yeah, she's said that.
I also don't believe it for a second. Considering all the things 3rd parties can make for fun, you're saying you can't change something in-game that you can change at the creation engine?
Complete and total garbage. Someone is lyin', either Gaile or whoever told her it wasn't doable.

why not still have a NPC which sends you to that part of the creation screen? select the chapter (phohs, factions nightfall), then the gender, hair, height, then just save the settings and exit back to game. Maybe add the conditions: 1 change every 10 minutes, cost 1p.
If ANet wanted, they could allow the next screen too - allow us to change the name of our characters, then save.

i think the only problem with that would be that the armors you have wouldn't change over with it. and might also make it so it spawns a set of new starter armor. what i don't understand is why they don't just make it an add on pack that they could charge $10 that allows you to change everything about your ch with the exception of armor. and they could do like 4 Different sets. it would be a really good way for anet to make some money for gw2. and if they did the set thing one for each chapter they could charge $5 for each one or something. i really wish they would add it.

Erm.. I post this kinda late but this is my vision for Hairstyles (and a little more )
First of all everyone should be able to go to a Hairdresser and change their hairstyle and color! Personally it should be about 5k for a new hairstyle and about the same for hair dye (if we don't want the supply and demand thing from usual dyes) . The prices can't really be any higher I think and anything much cheaper is just pathetic, you shouldn't change your hairstyle every day and it should be a money sink. All of this above has probably already been said but here comes a little add-on by me:
To further customize the looks and armor of your character:
I would like to see that you would be able to buy some sort of "update kits" to your armor. I have heard some people complain that everyone has the same armor and this should really change that if done correctly. there would be a special npc from whom you could buy several updates , hopefully unique to each armor. I'd like to see at least 3 updates to, for example, Rit elite Kurzick headpiece ( or maybe 3 updtaes to Rit elite Kurzick headpiece and other rit headpieces that look roughly the same. ) If all armor would look roughly equally good everyone must agree that armors would be much more unique.
I realize that this would mean tons of work, but maybe we can see something similar in GW2? Or this could only be applied to elite armor? It should also be very expensive to upgrade all your armor so this could be a money sink. To further evolve this it could also be applied to weapons. (maybe weapons could look different depending on the shafts, strings etc. )
erm.. yep. Hope everyone understand what I was trying to say then

I think most of us do want a hairdresser but it looks like Anet doesn't want to add it, or maybe they got more important things to do. I don't know.
So..i was thinking maybe they could make an event with a hairdresser/apperance changer, so we are able to change it but only for 1 weekend. I wouldn't even mind if it cost a few platinum

well the poll is quite over whelming for yes... also the it would be pointless to do it for just one weekend mainly because they big problem says anet is that it would take time to code.

I already signed, but I think Gaile's claim that the "engine doesn't support it" is a big lie.
-We know player MODELS can be changed in an instant with tonics and whatnot.
-We know ARMOR can, obviously, be changed easily.
-We know HAIR can be hidden with various headgears, so the potential to CHANGE hair surely can be done as well?

its not going to happen because anet is putting all there eggs in the basket that is gw2 which isn't smart. but yet everyone wants it as you can see. they realy should just leave a small team that can work on stuff to help fix up and add stuff to gw1

I have agreed with this for a long time.
Something even more radical - allow people to be able to DYE the items in their hair style to match their armor. Oh My! Could we live with that?
I have also suggested that it would bring PvE to PvP if Balth points could be spent on such changes. But, nooooooo. Obviously that kind of interaction would be heinous.

add this: We know they can add more variables, since they added a lot of titles and hero skill points variable.
So the value for the 'new' choosen hair could be stored in another variable if the older one could not be changed.

I dunno, it'd raise a lot of screaming from PvP players when "PvE scrubs" start trying to play their part of the game.
And it'd raise even more screaming from the PvE players who don't want to have to play PvP to implement the changes they want. :P

I agree, but it is like the current set up where a PvP player can make skins of their choosing and apply any mod they have open. PvE cannot do this. There should have been equity between the two games, but ANet never bothers as long as PvP gets what it wants.
All of my characters are somehow related and part of the same story. It would have been nice if my main (a Tyrian) could have gotten all of his family to have similar features - especially his Paragon son.
It would be nice if we could get the hair and face we want from any campaign - at least within class. Though, I remember being amused when the head of one female character goes most with armor for a class she can never wear.

True, but I believe they have to unlock or otherwise earn those mods, don't they? Spend points earned in combat to create the weapons they want? Spend more for the 1337 5k1nz? Either way, I never have trouble finding what I need in PvE, and if I can't farm them, I can usually buy them for 2k or less. And that's assuming I can't get the setup I want for a song on some overfarmed green.
Still, I'm not arguing against a stylist/makeover dealie. I'd love to be able to fix a few things... I'd just strongly prefer not having to PvP for the changes.
